Soccer Summer Camp in Yorktown, Virginia

Known for its famous battles, Yorktown, Virginia is a census-designated place in York County. Perhaps most famous as the site of the siege and surrender of General Charles Cornwallis to General George Washington and the French Fleet during the American Revolutionary War in 1781, some may or may not recall how the war would last for another year before the British end the war victoriously. Yorktown also played a huge role during the American Civil War, having served as a major port to supply northern and southern towns, depending upon who held Yorktown at the time. At Yorktown Battlefield, part of the National Park Service’s Colonial National Historical Park, you can view where George Washington secured America’s independence. Here you will also want to visit the Yorktown Victory Monument and the Civil War-era National Cemetery. Nearby at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, a living history museum, you can experience the American Revolution firsthand through film, galleries, and re-creations of a Revolution-era farm and a Continental Army encampment.

Yorktown may be a history lover’s dream, but it’s not the only thing you can partake in outdoors. This quaint town also has something else residents with kids would be happy to know about. Soccer camp! Coerver® United is here to provide a winning global coaching program inspired by the teachings of Wiel Coerver and created by Alfred Galustian and Charlie Cooke. For over thirty years, we have recruited the top soccer Coerver United coaches to best support our players, your children. • Develop skilled, confident and creative players
  • Make the game fun to practice and play
  • Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all
  • Value winning but not more than character and performance
  • Provide a safe & educational experience that meets best practice criteria

Coerver United also does not let the winter months get in the way of training which is why we have indoor soccer for some of our programs. Some of these seasonal programs include:

First Skills – Developed for ages 2-5, these classes are 30 minutes long and have a player to coach ratio of approximately 8-1. Fun is the central theme during all sessions as skills are introduced and practiced. These young players get to experience the game in a way that fosters physical and social development and improves coordination, confidence and skill.

Performance Academy – For ages 12-14, this program is specifically for those players who are looking to improve their individual skills. Great for all levels of players, the focus is placed on individual skill development and our 4 core move sets with the goal of developing confidence on the ball.

When it comes to summer camp, two types of week-long camps we host are Advanced and Ball Mastery.

Advanced level summer camp is available to players 10 years or older. Players are taught more complicated moves and they are placed into competitive environments with an emphasis on 1v1 and 2v2 play in the morning. Small group tactics are also taught and small-sided games are played featuring fast break attack and counter attacks.

Ball Mastery camps are for those between 6 and 11 years of age. Emphasis is on individual skill development and basic moves with the goal of developing confidence on the ball. Beginning “move sets” are taught and games are played to practice the moves in a method that starts with no pressure and slowly adds the pressure of time and/or space restrictions. Then passive defensive pressure is added and by the end of the first morning, players are performing moves under full defensive pressure to goal. Results are recorded each day and a finals competition is held on the last day of camp. Group champions are recognized at our award ceremony on Friday afternoon.
