West Windsor Township Soccer Camps

Established in 1797 as West Windsor Township in Mercer County, a part of Princeton University covering 400 acres south of Lake Carnegie is located there. With such a prestigious college at this township, it’s not surprising that NJ.com listed it as the 9th wealthiest in the state this past January in an article about the 19 wealthiest towns in New Jersey. Mercer County Park on Old Trenton Road is also a place smart residents like to go to reflect, is what we assume. The park is primarily located in West Windsor Township and has athletic fields, a dog park, picnic grounds, a newly renovated boathouse and a marina on Mercer Lake, as well as bike trails and an ice skating rink that is home to the Mercer Bulldogs special hockey team.

It sounds like a lot of great excuses to be active, but Coerver® United has added one more excuse in the form of their premier soccer camp. With a global coaching program inspired by the teachings of Wiel Coerver and created by Alfred Galustian and Charlie Cooke in place since 1984, the camp has been recruiting the best when it comes to Coerver United soccer coaches. To run a successful program, we have a player to coach ratio of approximately 6:1. This way individual skills and small group play won’t be neglected.

Thanks to our skilled coaches who train frequently as new curriculum is developed, and new games and exercises are introduced by Coerver United coaches across the world, young soccer pros are made here. The camps emphasize teaching the individual skills which will procure wonderful results for each player. Proper fundamental skills are taught before moving on to advanced skills.

Endorsed and recommended by several top federations, associations, club teams and corporations including the French Football Federation, Chinese Football Association, Newcastle United FC and global sponsor Adidas, our goal is to do as follows:

  • Develop skilled, confident and creative players
  • Make the game fun to practice and play
  • Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all
  • Value winning but not more than character and performance
  • Provide a safe & educational experience that meets best practice criteria

Coerver United also does not let the winter months interfere with training which is why we have indoor soccer available for some of our programs. Some of these seasonal programs include:

First Skills – Developed for ages 2-5, these classes are 30 minutes long and have a player to coach ratio of approximately 8-1. Fun is the central theme during all sessions as skills are introduced and practiced. These young players get to experience the game in a way that fosters physical and social development and improves coordination, confidence and skill.

Performance Academy – For ages 12-14, this program is specifically for those players who are looking to improve their individual skills. Great for all levels of players, the focus is placed on individual skill development and our 4 core move sets with the goal of developing confidence on the ball.

As summer camps go, two types of week-long camps we host are Advanced and Ball Mastery.

Advanced level summer camp is available to players 10 years or older. Players are taught more complicated moves and they are placed into competitive environments with an emphasis on 1v1 and 2v2 play in the morning. Small group tactics are also taught and small-sided games are played featuring fast break attack and counter attacks.

Ball Mastery camps are for those between 6 and 11 years of age. Emphasis is on individual skill development and basic moves with the goal of developing confidence on the ball. Beginning “move sets” are taught and games are played to practice the moves in a method that starts with no pressure and slowly adds the pressure of time and/or space restrictions. Then passive defensive pressure is added and by the end of the first morning, players are performing moves under full defensive pressure to goal. Results are recorded each day and a finals competition is held on the last day of camp. Group champions are recognized at our award ceremony on Friday afternoon.
