Soccer Summer Camp in Perkasie, Pennsylvania

Just 35 miles north of Philadelphia sits the wonderful borough of Perkasie, Pennsylvania. Located in Bucks County, the earliest establishments included silk mills, baseball makers, brickyards, lumber mills, a stone crusher, and cigar manufactories. Unfortunately, in 1988 nearly 15 percent of the town was burned down in what became known as The Great Perkasie Fire. Some of the historic buildings lost were the American House, dating back to 1870, the Herstine Building and the J.G. Moyer building. A few historic sites were spared including The South Perkasie Covered Bridge, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. There are also several lakes and parks in and around town including Lake Galena, a reservoir in Peace Valley Park, Pennsylvania, which was created in 1974 by the damming of the north branch of the Neshaminy Creek.

As you see, there is an incredible mix of the past and the present in this special borough. That includes Coerver® United’s global soccer coaching program inspired by the teachings of Wiel Coerver and created by Alfred Galustian and Charlie Cooke. For more than three decades, we have recruited the best soccer Coerver United coaches to support the campers. We have even implemented a player to coach ratio of approximately 6:1 to ensure effective coaching of individual skills and small group play.

Our skilled coaches are trained often as new curriculum is developed, and new games and exercises are introduced by Coerver United coaches across the world. The camps focus on teaching the individual skills that will produce great results for each player. Proper fundamental skills are taught before moving on to advanced skills.

  • Develop skilled, confident and creative players
  • Make the game fun to practice and play
  • Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all
  • Value winning but not more than character and performance
  • Provide a safe & educational experience that meets best practice criteria

Coerver United also does not let the winter months get in the way of training which is why we have indoor soccer for some of our programs. Some of these seasonal programs include:

First Skills – Developed for ages 2-5, these classes are 30 minutes long and have a player to coach ratio of approximately 8-1. Fun is the central theme during all sessions as skills are introduced and practiced. These young players get to experience the game in a way that fosters physical and social development and improves coordination, confidence and skill.

Performance Academy – For ages 12-14, this program is specifically for those players who are looking to improve their individual skills. Great for all levels of players, the focus is placed on individual skill development and our 4 core move sets with the goal of developing confidence on the ball.

When it comes to summer camp, two types of week-long camps we host are Advanced and Ball Mastery.

Advanced level summer camp is available to players 10 years or older. Players are taught more complicated moves and they are placed into competitive environments with an emphasis on 1v1 and 2v2 play in the morning. Small group tactics are also taught and small-sided games are played featuring fast break attack and counter attacks.

Ball Mastery camps are for those between 6 and 11 years of age. Emphasis is on individual skill development and basic moves with the goal of developing confidence on the ball. Beginning “move sets” are taught and games are played to practice the moves in a method that starts with no pressure and slowly adds the pressure of time and/or space restrictions. Then passive defensive pressure is added and by the end of the first morning, players are performing moves under full defensive pressure to goal. Results are recorded each day and a finals competition is held on the last day of camp. Group champions are recognized at our award ceremony on Friday afternoon.
