Leesburg Soccer Camps

A historic town in Loudoun County, Leesburg, Virginia is just 33 miles west-northwest of Washington, D.C. along the base of Catoctin Mountain and adjacent to the Potomac River. Over the last three decades, Leesburg has undergone substantial growth and development, going from a small, rural, piedmont town to a suburban bedroom community for commuters to the national capital. Not only has the town’s Historic District been placed on the National Register of Historic Places, but it has also been cited as one of the best preserved and most picturesque downtowns in the entire state. The area also boasts 21 entries on the National Register of Historic Places, including The Marshall House, which is the restored, early 19th century home of George C. Marshall, a general and diplomat who received the Nobel Peace Prize, Morven Park, the estate of Virginia Governor Westmoreland Davis, Oatlands Plantation, a national historic landmark, and White’s Ferry, known as the only remaining ferry across the Potomac River. There are even at least 63 historic markers located in and near Leesburg.

When not keeping busy marveling all the historic sites, Leesburg residents with children can also enjoy a premier soccer camp for their kids ages 3 and up. As a global coaching program inspired by the teachings of Wiel Coerver and created by Alfred Galustian and Charlie Cooke, Coerver United has been recruiting the top soccer coaches to support our players for over thirty years. To meet our goals, we have a player to coach ratio of approximately 6:1. This way individual skills and small group play are not compromised.

Leave it to our skillful coaches to train often as new curriculum is developed, and new games and exercises are introduced by Coerver United coaches across the world. The camps focus teaching the individual skills that will produce great results for each player. Proper fundamental skills are taught before going on to advanced skills.

Endorsed and recommended by several top federations, associations, club teams and corporations including the French Football Federation, Chinese Football Association, Newcastle United FC and global sponsor Adidas, our goal is to do as follows:

  • Develop skilled, confident and creative players
  • Make the game fun to practice and play
  • Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all
  • Value winning but not more than character and performance
  • Provide a safe & educational experience that meets best practice criteria

Coerver United also does not let the winter months interfere with training which is why we have indoor soccer available for some of our programs. Some of these seasonal programs include:

First Skills – Developed for ages 2-5, these classes are 30 minutes long and have a player to coach ratio of approximately 8-1. Fun is the central theme during all sessions as skills are introduced and practiced. These young players get to experience the game in a way that fosters physical and social development and improves coordination, confidence and skill.

Performance Academy – For ages 12-14, this program is specifically for those players who are looking to improve their individual skills. Great for all levels of players, the focus is placed on individual skill development and our 4 core move sets with the goal of developing confidence on the ball.

As summer camps go, two types of week-long camps we host are Advanced and Ball Mastery.

Advanced level summer camp is available to players 10 years or older. Players are taught more complicated moves and they are placed into competitive environments with an emphasis on 1v1 and 2v2 play in the morning. Small group tactics are also taught and small-sided games are played featuring fast break attack and counter attacks.

Ball Mastery camps are for those between 6 and 11 years of age. Emphasis is on individual skill development and basic moves with the goal of developing confidence on the ball. Beginning “move sets” are taught and games are played to practice the moves in a method that starts with no pressure and slowly adds the pressure of time and/or space restrictions. Then passive defensive pressure is added and by the end of the first morning, players are performing moves under full defensive pressure to goal. Results are recorded each day and a finals competition is held on the last day of camp. Group champions are recognized at our award ceremony on Friday afternoon.
