Soccer Summer Camp in Pennsylvania
Known as the Keystone State, Pennsylvania, one of the 13 original colonies, boasts wide stretches of farmland, national forests and breathtaking mountains such as the Appalachian Mountains which runs right through it. There is also so much rich history in major cities including Philadelphia, with its Independence Hall, which is where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed, and the Liberty Bell, an enduring symbol of American freedom. History buffs and patriots would revel in visiting historical sites such as Valley Forge, where General Washington stayed during the winter of 1777–78 and Gettysburg, where the bloodiest battle during the American Civil War was fought. Founded in 1681 by William Penn, Pennsylvania has over a dozen popular amusement parks such as Hershey Park and 121 state parks including Valley Forge State Park, its first state park which was purchased in 1893 by the Commonwealth to preserve Valley Forge before it was transferred to the National Park Service (NPS) on the Bicentennial of our nation. That is why Coerver United takes great pride in being located in this wonderful state.
Our amazing staff at Coerver United certainly take inspiration from the great outdoors Pennsylvania has to offer when we go out onto our facility to train our soccer camp trainees. If you’ve thought about enrolling your child in a safe sport that is great for team building, why don’t you consider registering your child at a reputable soccer camp? With several locations across the Mid-Atlantic Region, Coerver® United was formed in 1984 as a successful global coaching program inspired by Wiel Coerver’s teachings and created by Alfred Galustian and Charlie Cooke. Our company recruits sought-after soccer Coerver United coaches to effectively train your children to be the best they can be. Our belief is in having a player to coach ratio of approximately 6:1 so we can really focus on developing individual skills as well as small group play.
To ensure the highest quality coaching possible, we frequently train our skilled coaches as newcurriculum is being developed, and new games and exercises are introduced by Coerver United coaches from around the globe. The emphasis in on teaching the individual skills that will create great success for every player. First, we hone in on proper fundamental skills and then we progress toward advanced skills.
Endorsed and recommended by several top federations, associations, club teams and corporations including the French Football Federation, Chinese Football Association, Newcastle United FC and global sponsor adidas, our goal is to do as follows:
- Develop skilled, confident and creative players
- Make the game fun to practice and play
- Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all
- Value winning but not more than character and performance
- Provide a safe & educational experience that meets best practice criteria
Coerver United also does not let the winter months interfere with training which is why we have indoor soccer available for some of our programs. Some of these seasonal programs include:
First Skills – Developed for ages 3-7, these classes are 30 minutes long and have a player to coach ratio of approximately 1:10. Fun is the central theme during all sessions as skills are introduced and practiced. These young players get to experience the game in a way that fosters physical and social development and improves coordination, confidence and skill.
Performance Academy – For ages 7-14, this program is specifically for those players who are looking to improve their individual skills. Great for all levels of players, the focus is placed on individual skill development and our 4 core move sets with the goal of developing confidence on the ball.
As summer camps go, two types of week-long camps we host are Advanced and Ball Mastery.
Advanced level summer camp is available to players 10 years or older. Players are taught more complicated moves and they are placed into competitive environments with an emphasis on 1v1 and 2v2 play in the morning. Small group tactics are also taught and small-sided games are played featuring fast break attack and counter attacks.
Ball Mastery camps are for those between 6 and 11 years of age. Emphasis is on individual skill development and basic moves with the goal of developing confidence on the ball. Beginning “move sets” are taught and games are played to practice the moves in a method that starts with no pressure and slowly adds the pressure of time and/or space restrictions. Then passive defensive pressure is added and by the end of the first morning, players are performing moves under full defensive pressure to goal. Results are recorded each day and a finals competition is held on the last day of camp. Group champions are recognized at our award ceremony on Friday afternoon.
